Oxford's much-toured 4-piece band, Moonrakers (celtic harp, cello, stringed instruments, whistles, female/male vocals). Moonrakers are on a mission to bring traditional and contemporary folk music to new audiences in village halls, churches, arts centres and festivals across the UK.

We’re delighted to welcome to St Mary’s Oxford’s much-toured 4-piece band, Moonrakers (celtic harp, cello, stringed instruments, whistles, female/male vocals). Moonrakers are on a mission to bring traditional and contemporary folk music to new audiences in village halls, churches, arts centres and festivals across the UK.

With songs and tunes from the English, Irish and Scottish tradition as well as their own compositions, they’ve been described as “startlingly talented” (Oxford Times), with five albums of “exquisite music “(BBC) and “truly wonderful” performances (Wycombe Festival).

2023 saw the launch of their album ‘Green to Gold’ which received glowing reviews in the music press). Their music also featured in the new BBC television drama ‘Beyond Paradise’. To see and hear more, visit www.moonrakers.net.

Please note that the evening performance will be preceded by a six-hour Folk Orchestra Workshop, held at Barbon Village Hall from 10AM-4PM. Places on the workshop cost £50, including refreshments and a ticket to the concert. Places are very limited, though, so book soon. WORKSHOP
