SUMMARY:People’s Emergency Briefing
DESCRIPTION:The UK faces a growing climate and nature emergency. Yet most people have never been fully briefed on what it means for our lives\, our economy and our future. \nThe film is intended as a catalyst for a wider public conversation and a stepping stone towards a live televised national briefing\, introduced by the Prime Minister and delivered by independent experts\, so that the whole country can be fully informed about the risks we face and the solutions available. MPs are invited to every screening to hear the evidence alongside their constituents. \nIn November 2025\, the National Emergency Briefing brought together leading experts to present the latest evidence on the climate and nature crisis to politicians and other influential people in Westminster. That evidence is now on the public record. \nWhy it matters now \nClimate and nature breakdown will affect every constituency in the country\, from health and food systems to infrastructure\, security to economic stability. This crisis is more serious and immediate than many understand. There is strong evidence that bold\, urgent action will improve lives and livelihoods\, but the window of opportunity is narrowing as we delay. \nAbout the Film \nThe 50-minute film will combine authoritative scientific content from the Westminster event with reactions from members of the public and some more familiar faces – designed to help audiences process the information on a more human level. It will deliver the frank facts about the threats\, but also the enormous benefits if Government leads genuine emergency action. \nMany of those attending the event commented that although the facts are alarming\, they felt a sense of optimism about confronting the challenge together and seeing a pathway to a better future. \nYou can see a trailer here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5x2XhvEbz24&t=2s \nThere is clear evidence that urgent action will strengthen our economy\, resilience\, and quality of life. The National Emergency Briefing exists to help create a societal tipping point towards the action now required. You can help make it happen. https://www.nebriefing.org/take-action \nWe’re showing this ahead of next year’s Illuminate Festival (12-21 Feb 2027). We’ve scheduled a panel event on Sat 13 Feb 2027 with climate change expert Mike Berners-Lee\, renewable energy researcher\, Professor Alona Armstrong and local MP Lizzi Collinge. We hope that this screening will provide some all-important context for the Illuminate event and will act as a prompt for wider discussions. \nWednesdy 30th SeptemberLUNESDALE HALL7:00 PMFREE (Tickets must be booked) \nWarnings and age guidance:We recommend the film for age 16+ based on expert advice.
